MobileOne and StarHub reveal Apple iPhone price plans and Dec 9 launch

M1 and Starhub from Singapore have finally revealed their Apple iPhone packages to the Singapore market.

I believe this is a welcoming move to many of the handset upgraders locally. Many of my friends, colleagues and associates have been waiting for this day to come.

More iPhones will start to flood our streets soon, just like how the Motorola V3 Razr had in the past. Are you ready for it?

Most of my mobile phone lines are with Starhub, so probably when my Singtel contract ends, I will switch over to Starhub too because it gives me more subscription savings on my mobile phone subscription each month.

Not everyone loves the iPhone, in fact some people hated it, but then again no one can deny that the Apple iPhone is the most coveted handset in the world!

Here are the price plans from M1, Starhub, Singtel (as of this writing), which one will you go for?

With this new introduction of the Apple iPhone by the other 2 telcos, I think the sales for my iPhone screen protectors will go up again.

Oh, did I not tell you that I am selling the cheapest iphone screen protectors in Singapore? Yes, it is at SGD$1.00 per piece retail (selling in Singapore only)! I don’t make a lot from this because I am just doing this for fun on eBay.

UPDATES: It seems like the 3 telcos are fighting it out now to offer consumers better subscription packages for their Apple iPhones. Please check out the respective telco web sites for the most recent price plans updates..

StarHub to bring iPhone to customers in Singapore

According to ChannelNewsAsia, Starhub has finally reached an agreement with Apple to bring in the iPhone into Singapore.

Here is the report extracted from ChannelNewsAsia:

StarHub has announced that it will bring the iPhone to its customers in Singapore later this year after reaching an agreement with Apple.

The telecommunications company said on Monday it looks forward to offering the iPhone and a range of tailored service plans to its customers.

It added that more information on pricing and availability dates will be released in due course.

StarHub is the last of the three phone service providers here to reach a deal with Apple in offering the iPhone. Last month, Mobile One said it would also sell the iPhone later this year.

SingTel began offering Apple’s third generation network iPhones late last year. Since then, with the exclusive agreement, SingTel has sold more than 100,000 iPhones.

Once my 2 year contract with SingTel ends, I will terminate my SingTel line and change my iPhone line to Starhub.

FYI, Starhub is now taking pre-orders for the Apple iPhone 3GS on their web site at www.starhub.com

M1 to sell Apple iPhones in Singapore by end 2009

M1 to sell Apple iPhones in Singapore by end 2009. More details to be revealed soon.

I wonder what Starhub is doing!? Sleeping?

After gaining big enough market share in Singapore for its various services, Starhub seems to be getting the big head syndrome. Their special promotions and packages are losing their attractiveness and lustre!

Time to wake up Starhub before I, your Platinum customer, starts switching over to your competition!

New iPhone OS 3.1.2 for various iPhone models

Apple has rolled out another update for the iPhone OS – version 3.1.2.

The 241.7MB patch can be downloaded from iTunes and is compatible with all three models of iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

According to the company, the software update fixes a “sporadic issue” where the iPhone fails to wake up from sleep mode. It also resolves an “intermittent issue” that may interrupt the cellular network until the phone is restarted, as well as a bug that could crash the device during video streaming.

Upgrade yours if you need to…

Apple launches better performance iPhone & cut iPhone 8GB to $99!

Apple has launched its newer, speedier iPhone and cut the price of its existing 8GB iPhone to $99.

The new iPhone 3G S was unveiled at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (a.k.a WWDC) yesterday. It will launch on 19 June and should be available in 80 countries by 9 Aug.

The new iPhone features a built-in compass, video camera and voice recording functionality.

The device was launched in the absence of chairman Steve Jobs, who is on medical leave. The handset may also be used as a 3G modem via internet tethering, although this function is not yet supported in all countries.

It also features voice control supporting 32 languages or dialects, cut and paste functions and MMS support. You can also use the virtual keyboard in landscape alignment.

Apple said, every function on the new handset is said to be twice as fast as its predecessor.  In the US, it will cost $199 for a 16GB version and $299 for the 32GB model.

Apple also said it would cut the 8GB iPhone 3G to $99.

This is great news for many of us, especially those who wants to get a new iPhone for themselves.

Apple’s Revolutionary App Store Downloads Top One Billion in Just Nine Months

Apple recently announced that customers have downloaded one billion applications from its revolutionary App Store, the largest applications store in the world. The one billionth app, Bump created by Bump Technologies, was downloaded by Connor Mulcahey, age 13, of Weston, CT. As the grand prize winner of Apple’s one billion app countdown contest, Connor will receive a $10,000 iTunes® gift card, an iPod® touch, a Time Capsule® and a MacBook® Pro. (Don’t you wish you were the winner?)

I think Apple has really revolutionised the mobile market with other competitors chasing hot after her heels. Apple is no longer only just creating a brand name or products or services for the market, they are so successful to the extent that I think they are creating a culture of their own in the global market place. Some of us may not think so highly of Apple or the iPhone, but on the other hand, we really cannot ignore their phenomenal success in the global market. Last time was the iPod, now the iPhone!

3.8million iPhone sales boost Apple’s Q1 profit

Telecomasia.net reported the following:

“Apple shipped 3.79m iPhones in Q1 to lift earnings 16%, well ahead of forecasts, the company announced Wednesday.

Strong demand for the iPhone drove revenue up 7.9% to $8.16 billion as it posted a $1.21 billion profit.

By contrast, Macintosh sales were off 3% to 2.22 million, while iPod shipments grew 3% to 11.01 million.

Apple’s iPhone shipments were up 123% year-on-year, helping the company to what CFO Peter Oppenheimer called “the best non-holiday quarter revenue and earnings in our history.”

He forecast revenue in the range of $7.7 billion to $7.9 billion in the next quarter.

Apple’s results easily outperformed analysts’ estimates.

Apple shares on the Nasdaq rose 2.3% to $124.30 in after hours trading yesterday.

AT&T said  yesterday it had signed more than 1.6 million iPhone subscribers, of whom 40% were new to the company, in the first quarter.  Wireless data revenues rose 38% and now account for 27.2% of total wireless service revenues. “

I am really not surprised with this news because iPhone is still currently one of the most coveted-after phone by mobile phone users globally.
